What is a toddler floor bed?
The toddler floor bed is designed to encourage children's independence, freedom of movement and development from an early age. Inspired by Maria Montessori's teaching methods, this type of bed is generally placed on the floor or at a very low level, without bars or barriers, so that the child can access it alone, in complete safety.
The aim is to enable children to manage their own sleep cycles and rest periods, without depending on an adult to get them in and out of bed. This helps them gain confidence, explore their environment at their own pace and reinforce their sense of independence.
Perfectly suited to toddlers, the Montessori bed is often part of a room designed at their height, where every element is accessible and safe. It's a real tool for everyday learning, directly linked to the child's natural needs.
How many beds can I stack safely?
Up to three beds can be stacked on top of each other. This configuration remains stable and safe, as long as the assembly recommendations are followed. The beds have been designed to withstand regular use, with a load capacity of up to 120 kg per bed. Sheets can remain in place when stacked, but it is preferable to remove duvets and pillows from the lower bunks to maintain an even height and avoid any awkward extra thickness.
What type of mattress is suitable for the toddler floor bed?
To ensure that stacking is smooth and safe, the mattress should not be thicker than 16 cm. This ensures that the beds fit together properly without tipping over. You can choose a foam, spring or latex mattress, as long as it respects this maximum height. For optimum compatibility, our Marly mattress has been specifically selected to fit this format.
Why choose a solid wood toddler floor bed?
Made in our workshop in Lower Normandy, this toddler floor bed is made from solid pine from sustainably managed forests. Each piece is carefully finished with a solvent-free water-based varnish that respects both health and the environment. Its minimalist design, with rounded corners, makes it easy to handle and ensures good ventilation between the levels, thanks to a clever 2 cm spacing. Available in 80x190, 80x200, 90x190 and 90x200 cm, it offers great design flexibility while retaining excellent durability.
